Yes, the A's beat the Twins and they are the underdog in the series. The Twins have been hot lately, though... This loss will only motivate them more to bring it in the last games...

Their (the Twins) whole season was about getting out of holes (they dug), and they did it with flying colors! What were they, 12 games behind a couple of months ago? They were ranked third in the division, and what...they end up winning the division? They are animals! :) Piranhas, baby!

G'day LittlemissSunshine,

Thanks for your question.

The Twins were favourite over the A's. During the regular season they won 6 victories as opposed to the A's 4 and most of the stats were in their favour. (see Mercury News preview).

However, the A's got off to a good start in the first game winning 3-2 with Frank Thomas scoring two solo homers and Mario Scutaro hitting the other run. Frank Zito did his part over eight innings allowing just one run off four hits. Huston Street conceded another run for the A's in the final innings after Michael Cuddyer got a triple and Torii Hunter got him home.

In Game 2, Boof Bonser of the Twins goes against Esteban Loiaza of the A's.

I have attached sources for your reference.
