you are naive if you think this can't happen anywhere

Nothing is rational with what happened, a sad tragic (yes redundant) event which was meaningless. A true coward he was to pick on such a caring community. Easy victims I suppose. He should have just killed himself and end it there. But then he wouldn't have gotten his name on the news.

I also think he thought it would be an easy target,no phones, all women teachers, small and out of the way.So very sad.I live not too far away from this area and visit it often.I think it hit me hard to know that even peace loving people aren't even immune from violence anymore. The last place any of us here in Pa would ever think something like this would happen. You might not be as surprised if it happened in Philly or Allentown, but Amish country?Just makes you think. And then to think that his true motives were probably to molest all those innocents...my heart goes out to all their families.

I think he believed it would be an easy target for his deranged mind to conquer. Such a sad thing to happen anywhere - so many children killed because of the mental illnesses of others! My heart hurts so much for their families.

What a horrible story. Which is now up to 5 young girls that were killed. Who knows why or what on earth goes through the mind of someone just before they do these horrendous crimes against innocent children. I just don't understand at all. May God bless all involved.

Five have now died from the shooting. They sound very pessimistic about the chances for at least some of the other wounded girls. No community seems to be immune from the hatred and anger that is permeating this country like a cancer.

I just dont know why someone in their right mind or even messed up mind for that matter what to harm an innocent child. My heart goes out to everyone involved especially their families. I am not a religious person but may god bless them all.

I thought the same thing...then I realized that it would be insane happening anywhere. I believe their innocence may have played a part in his mind...thinking that they would be easy victims. He was apparently intent on abusing them and knew that there would be no phone, no help, no guns. I hope there is a special level of hell for him...where it is his turn to be the victim.

Give me a break... what difference does it make who it happens to? Bad things happen to everyone, you think god was supposed to stop this or something because they're peaceful?

It's a tragic thing, but who it happened to is irrelevant. This would be horrible if it happened to anyone.

The man was an outsider. Dang shame. My heart goes out to all those families.

Maybe if the media would stop constantly talking about school shootings everytime one happens we wouldn't have so many copycat killers wanting their 15 minutes of fame.
