It allows people to break up the tasks into individual sections and therefore makes a more organised system. Each phase of the process is important, especially the information gathering and testing phases. Its the age old story that tasks in smaller chunks are easier to cope with.

Well in any mission, you need get an arm around costs and timelines. The SDLC process can give you goals to set and measure.

uhmm they could determination searching on the approach you're using (watterfall, RAD, Spiral, Agile...and so on) yet in reality they're only 5 verbal change (getting the software theory) Scheduling, diagnosis (getting the criteria 'suitable') layout (architectural layout ) Implementation and debugging ( CODING) deployment, launch... as i say they determination and it relies upon on the software procedure you're using, yet in a regular way, thats it.
