I've seen commercials for the NFL Network and it says it will launch Thanksgiving day. My question is, will we not be able to watch football games on stations such as FOX, CBS, or ESPN if we don't have the NFL Network?

NFL Network has condensed replays of 4 games each week for now. In a few weeks they start showing Thursday night games. Not sure if in the "local" markets if the NFL network will sub out the rights to a local station so that for instance the Steelers fans can watch the Browns beat them on December 7th.

Good question. Actually, the NFL Network is in its second year of existence. It's mostly on satellite, although some cable programmers (Cox Communications comes to mind) have it as well. What they're doing starting on Thanksgiving night, is showing one live game a week, much like ESPN or NBC does now on Sunday and Monday nights. You'll still be able to see all of the games on FOX, CBS, ESPN, etc. each week, except one if you don't have the NFL Network by then.

The games the NFL network (which has already launched a few years back) will broadcast will be simulcast over the air in the markets of the teams involved (i.e. a game between the Panthers and Buccaneers should be veiwable on local Carolinas and Tampa Bay area TV stations)

It seems that, that's the whole purpose. They bought the rights to show the games. I don't see how two networks could show the same game. These commercials have been airing since about april/may 06. I think those games will monly be on NFL network. I love the NFL Network
