While there is still some security risk involved, typically because of the size of these places, they don't have enough security personnel to prevent one from entering.

Secondly, the size and enclosure is a must. Being able to barricade or lock oneself in an internal room, away from cameras (and more importantly, Police sharpshooters) the person has a better chance of seeing when the Police are coming and ending their own lives. (as the majority of them do)

thirdly, as someone mentioned, there are plenty of targets for them to choose from. And also, most of their problems probably began at a school. whether it was from being picked on or teased, maybe they feel that school would be a good place to show the world, as it is guaranteed to attract National, if not World attention.

most of them were social outcasts, and by killing high school students, they somehow feel like they're avenging the hell their lives were while they were in high school. it's also better that just going into a business because the people there are already established and have a life. students don't know what they want to be yet. they could be killing the next president, or the kid who could find a cure for AIDS. i would guess that it's just a way to get back at the kids who hurt them when they were younger.

It draws more attention because children are involved. These whack jobs want the glory and fame. It's sick!! Children are innocent and easy targets. They know they are easy prey.

Please keep the students and families in your prayers that have suffered this week. Also pray for our nation and world, that evil will be wiped off the face of the earth and we can all live in peace.

1) Lots of People, little to no security

2) Media frenzy on anything school related

3) Society always has more sympathy and pays more attention to anything involving children. Thus the attacker gets more attention.

It is so damn sad!!!! The only way to protect these children is to build walls around them. The Amish are the most innocent and peace-loving in the USA!!!! This is a very sad day!!!

PROBABLY BECAUSE IT'S MORE MEANINGFUL. THEY FEEL LIKE THEY ARE TAKING MORE FROM THE WORLD BY KILLING A STUDENT OR PROSPECTIVE, THEN IF THEY KILLED A HOMELESS PERSON OR AVERAGE JOE. ALSO, ALOT OF THESE SCHOOL KILLINGS ARE DONE BY POEPLE WHO HATED SCHOOL, BECAUSE THEY WERE BULLIED OR OUTCASTS....
AND THE SECURITY SUCKS. SCHOOLS ARE ONE OF THE ONLY PLACES YOU COULD GO WITH A WEAPON, WITH NO SECURITY. YOU CANT GO TO A FOOTBALL GAME OR STADIUM WITH A GUN, ATLEAST NOT EFFORTLESSLY, BUT YOU CAN STAND OUTSIDE A SCHOOL WITH ONE. IT'S UNFORTUNATE, BUT THATS HOW IT IS.
