I consider myself a "pure" Republican.

I believe in less federal government regulations letting local governments decide policies wherever possible. For example, different issues effect different parts of the country, states and cities so I don't believe all policies should enforced on everyone.

I believe capitalism is important in our countries growth and well-being. Letting businesses grow and take care of their employees is essential to keeping our economy strong. If that means tax breaks will keep companies from outsourcing jobs and laying off workers, so be it.

I believe most social issues can be handled privately. We do not have enough money for the government to hand out money to everyone's "cause of the moment." People making more money from their jobs are more apt to contribute monetarily to social causes. We're paying enough in taxes to handle what we need to. There's a lot of pork fat that needs to be cut from both sides.

Lastly, I believe issues like our country's security, energy needs, immigration reform, legal reform, pro/anti abortion stances, education improvements, and social security are BI-PARTISAN issues that breach party lines. A good idea is a good idea no matter who comes up with it and it should be decided upon it's merit and not who presents it. I won't be grouped into any direction by people wanting those to be decided upon by party.

The Republican party is supposed to stand for:

-- low taxes
-- small government
-- morality
-- personal autonomy
-- fewer government regulations on business

Those are the basic tenets of being a Republican. Of course, these values put me back to the age of Thomas Jefferson... but I can still dream.

A republican is conservative. A person that doesn't believe in raising taxes but conserving what they have now. Someone that is dedicated to the books and going by the books and only the books. They don't like change that is.

A Republican is someone who believes that the government shouldn't take away any more of your tax dollars than they need to keep you from doing things they don't want you doing.

Political parties, such as Republicans, are merely an illusion, because THIS secret and evil group has been in control of everything for far too long!...

I am an independent, however I think that the Republican party is being side tracked by what they call moral issues. I do not completely understand the far right's attack on gays and abortion, etc.
