Texas, of course, is the best place to hunt snipes. After all only Texas has the elusive jack-a-lope. But you can use any dark woods, a flash light, a snipe call and a gunny sack.

Have you heard the expression "Let holding the bag"? It comes from an unsuccessful snipe hunt.

In the middle of the woods with no moon and nobody making a sound. It is better to go by yourself or split up and take a bag with you for the snipe to run into. If you hold the bag close to the ground and don't move a muscle, they will run in. But it has to be absolutely dark.
