get all the #'s on one side of the equation and all of the variables on the other side. Do this by subtracting the #'s and the x's. Remember what you do to one side of the equation you must do to the other side.
(6+x)+0 [-6 -0]=6+x [-6 -0]
This leaves you with:
x=x
Subtract x from both sides:
0=0
To check your work substitute x for 0 in the original eqation. That equation reduces to 6=6. Therefore, x=0.

x could be anything; whether you put 0, 1, 2, or 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, it's still going to fit.
