Foley was a democrat about four years ago. Actually the Democrats have done the exact same thing in the past. See Barney Frank and especially Gerry Studds:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Congressional_page_sex_scandal
This BY NO MEANS makes it ok, right or better, and there is no reason to politicize pedophilia. Both sides have messed around with pages in the past and it is completely vile and disgusting. This should be the one issue that both parties steadfastly agree on. Both parties need to reform the page system and condemn this sick activity and take appropriate legal action. Another perfect example of why America actually needs LESS government.
Fox News is an alternative to CNN, and anyone who says either network is completely fair and balanced is mistaken. Both networks offer a different take on the news, and frankly I'm glad that we have both viewpoints because they contribute to a better informed public as well as healthy debate. If Fox News is indeed the devil, (like I read all the time in Answers) why do they continually pound CNN in the ratings?

They're not sticking up for anyone. They're rightly highlighting the hypocrisy of the democrats moral outrage while their ranks are filled with crooks (New Orleans' Jefferson), their own perverts and murderers (Barnie Frank and Conduit) etc... etc...
If it turns out that there has been a cover up, then in the opinion of this Fox News fan, they should all be sent to jail. If this loses us republicans control of the House, oh well. I won't be blaming the democrats. We will have done it to ourselves.
Fox refuses to rush to judgment as you do. Watch and learn what happens at Fox if a cover up is ever proved. Foley and his enablers will face the wrath of the right wing. It's one thing for liberals to be soft on pedophiles, we expect it of you. (The ACLU defends organizations like NAMBLA pro bono while spending millions on attacking the Boy Scouts) but when one of our own betrays the trust, Hellfire will not equal the torments we will visit upon him.
If you liberals can squeeze a victory out of this, I will congratulate you even as I work to undo any gains you might make at the next elections!

Many, if not ALL of the commentors on Fox, not only condemning Foley, but also wanting an investigation in to who knew what & when. One conservative commentator last night said "If Hastert didn't know - he should have!"
But they are taking the "innocent till proven guilty" approach. Yes, FOX news is biased to the right, but CNN is biased to the left. Haven't there been some scandals concerning democrats with pages? I bet CNN went soft on those guys while Fox was tough!
The only thing "fair & balanced" about FOX is that it provides balance by presenting the "right while CNN presents the "left." I watch both to get the whole picture.

Well, after 40 years in the newpaper business and as editor, I am well accustomed to readers reading what they want to read in my news columns even thought the exact opposite is what has been printed.
That rule applies to you, I fear. You are seeing ONLY what you want to see, regardless of the evidence of your eyes.
Here's the on-line website for Fox.
http://www.foxnews.com
Show me where you are correct over a 24 hour period. I ask that so that you will be exposed to an entire news cycle and not just one story you viewed for 15 seconds, say, yesterday.
Aw, go ahead and try it, dude. It doesn't hurt a guy TOO BADLY to be proved wrong.

As far as all news organizations are reporting, ALL leadership knew of these messages as much as a YEAR ago. A better question is why did certain groups choose to sit on this information and wait until just prior to an election and after all the ballots have been printed to "leak" the news? Seems quite underhanded and dastardly to me.

Yes and it is getting worse.
They lead into the story like they are talking about Foley and less than 5 seconds into it they stop and go "And something interesting, "alot of people" are asking is this politically motivated"..and then they go on to act as if the topic is dems and politics.

You cannot shame a repuglican, that would call for a conscious, they do not have one. There is no excuse to let a pedophile go on like they did.
