Sure, everything influences people's political ideas. That's why it's important to have a free press, one that separates news from opinion and analysis or clearly marks which is which, and one which isn't a mere propaganda arm of the government.

The media can only infuences peoples political ideas if they have that political idea before they watch the news or media. It can re-inforce peoples thoughts and ideas on how things actually are. It is so easy for the media to present an actual factual happening and squew it to the left or right. Especially the TV media. As it is presented not as actual fact but as how the media perceives it. Can that have an infleunce on people... Sure it can. Can it be correct and factual.. maybe,.... but much of the time it is not as reporters today like politician are so lopped sides one way or the other, one has to really work hard to keep an open mind to gather all the facts for ones self. The major media today is presenting the war, as an example, in Iraq as the US troops are there and never coming home and they are not doing any good there. Well I have been there for myself and I have seen the good we do there every day. The people our soldiers help and save from these radical islamic nut cases. You are a normal person sitting at home don;t get to see this on tv. You only see the killing and hatred. Remember the USA is not the only country with troops there. We are not alone in the world and the free countries are there with us. This is not a Republican War, remember Islamic Radicals Terrorists attacked us. Since that time we have not had any other attacks here in the USA. Souly due to the facts of the Commander in Chief has set up the structure to protect our A.S.S.es.
But I am regressing. The media does influence the weak, young and uninformed in their political ideas. But not the strong, courageous, and informed individuals.

Yes of course. You also have to look at who owns the media. For example who owns a particular t.v station or newspaper. Alot of what is in the media is baised based on the beliefs of the owners.

The media influences everything you think. Just take a while to truely examine your thought processes and then see hohw little of it does not come from the media. Remove the media from your thoughts and learn to think for yourself.
Good luck.

I think it does, alot! The media as in television or the internet is the fastest way to spread info and change the way we think about things, either taking a slightly bad or good side to the thing in question! As long as the media stays the way it is, the answer to your question, in my opinion, is yes.

I think so. Look how much anti-war crap you see in the media. You don't ever hear about the good that is going on overseas. If all you're ever shown is the bad, of course it's going to sway some people who don't realize that they aren't getting they entire picture.
