median is diferent from mean. median is when you order numbers from smallest to the largest and the number that fall right in the middle is your median. If you have two middle numbers then you get their average and it will be your median

2,4,6,14,35,45,67,80,100
the fifth 35 is your median.

When you have a list of numbers, all arranged from smallest to largest, or vice-versa, the median is the number that falls exactly in the middle. i.e. 2, 4, 6, the median is 4.
But for an even number of items in the list, you have to take the average of the two middle numbers. i.e., 1, 3, 5, 6. The median falls between 3 and 5, so we get the average of those, which is 4.
Hope this helps! :-)
