Since the christian right has hijacked the republican party to advance their own political religious agenda and want to impose their own beliefs and standards on the rest of us, they should form their own political party and join the fray openly and honestly instead of secertly manipulating the results with cash contributions and strings attached.
They have every right to have their opinions known and considered in the marketplace of ideas that is USA.
The would have to give up their much cherished right to be exempt from taxation and commence to pay their own fair share, but that is what entitles them to have their opinions considered.
To attempt to sway legislation and at the same time evade taxes is just not right or fair or legal or constitutional or godly. religions should stick to saving souls and forget worldly matters. God gave men free wills so they could choose to sin or not. Man does not have to make laws and use guns and prisons to prevent sin. GOD will judge them.

I did not realize i seemed to be railing against christians. it is they who are so active in politics that the IRS is investigating them that is why, the muslims and jews and buddhists and so forth pretty much stay busy in their churchs worrying about the spiritual life of their flocks and only the right wing christians come out and march and support candidate and kill abortionists and raise funds and get faith based initiative funds which they use to donate to certain candidates and on and on and on. when the other religions start doing that crap, i will suggest they do the same thing. start a party and give up the religious tax exemption instead of trying to have it both ways and evading the laws by stealth.

Refreshing thought, and some damn good points.
It is certainly clear that whatever Jesus might have said about the separation of church and state (see full text, below), there is a growing movement within the Christian community to impose a church-run state...sort of like the Islamic governments.
So, I join your call!
To all politically-minded Christians: come out of the closet (if you will) and expose yourself to the light of day!
Jesus, on the separation of church & state:
"Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's" ("reddite igitur quae sunt Caesaris Caesari et quae sunt Dei Deo") (Saint Matthew 22:21).

I think I understand your question and even perhaps the reason for the reason you came to the conclussion you did.
Forming a political party for all christians would probably not work as there are liberals, conservatives, abortionist, libertians and other christins that have different political view.
It is sort of like trying to get all blacks to form a political party with all the division of poliitcal thoughts and ideas, it probably would not work also as an all white, Jewish, or Indian political party would not work. They just have too many political views in each group.
As far as pusing a politcal agenda within the present frame work, lots of christians give to the political party of their choice, some ministers even preach in their church which party they think are helping them the most, especially on moral issues a church favors.
You could not tell by the way the present churches skirt the tax situation as well as collect money for their favorite candidate. It is a CPA's dream come true disguising money going into PACS and getting credit for it on their taxes.
I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

I see no reason why not - in fact, it might be a good thing. The republican party as a unit has merely used christians as a tool to get what they want, which is power for their business friends.
Christian morals and ethics, whether or not I agree with them, oughtn't be used as a way to twist people into supporting candidates who actually aren't anything like Christians.
I'm a liberal moderate, but I'd support a Christian party candidate, if he or she were best for the job and understood that religion and politics can mix, but religion and government can't.

The republican party has larger problems than just the "hijacking" by the Christians. The republicans have completely deserted their original stances including: lower taxes, smaller government, and personal autonomy. None of those have anything to do with Christianity.
And I hope your railing against religions that are attempting to evade taxes does not fall solely on Christians. ALL religions and churches evade taxes. Why pick on one group rather than all of them? Seems to me like you're picking and choosing your targets based on your personal hatreds rather than what is "right" and "fair".

because of the fact the communists and socialists form political events (generally disguised) I see no reason the Christian people could no longer form a Christian Democrat or Christian Conservative social gathering. Any prepared and nicely funded group can form a social gathering, yet Christians, jointly as distinctive, are plenty divided on dogma and subjects, and not going to be very useful at this until they discover consumer-friendly floor on rather some arguable subjects.

Well, I was going to say the Republicans already beat you to it!
I think THAT is why there is a separation of church & state...or why it should enforce that rule now especially!

You were right in the first place. Conservative Christians already have their own party: the GOP.
That's one of the reasons I'm a Democrat.

well id sure like to see it happen, but it would only tear apart the christian religions more, the baptists and the catholics. Lutherans and other protestants.
you'll also have the secularists screaming separation of church and state.
