The scariest movie that I believe I have ever seen is a
horror movie form the 70's. The movie was 'The
Haunting of Hill House." I believe the stars were Clarie
Bloom and John Astin.

Either "The Shining" or "Silence of the Lambs".

There is nothing scarier than someone who loses their mind or is just plain psychopathic. These are the kind of monsters that you might actually encounter in your life. Ok, probably not to that extreme, but it makes you look at your neighbors differently and double check your doors and windows at night.

The scariest TV show ever was the episode of "The X Files" titled, 'Home.' It was the one about the inbred family in WV who kept their mother under the bed.

I think Blair Witch because if anything really scary from the realm of the supernatural ever happened to me it would be that kind of situation. All the other situations are pretty contrived and more story like.

My next nomination would be Prince of Darkness. I liked it because I think if there are supernatural things, they are really happening when our reality somehow briefly merges with a neighboring reality or dimensional universe.

I haven't seen a really good scary movie in a long time. I've seen some great horror and gorefests, but nothing truly scary. I've been waiting for a good one, but I don't think hollywood has any good writers or original ideas anymore so I doubt it will happen.

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Even though the special effects are better in the new one, for its time the first is better.
