It depends on who it is. If it's an acquaintance that I'm not all that close with, then, yes, I hate it. I've run in to all types of people at the store before. I ran into my daughter's teacher, my old high school principal, and coworkers, and even my boss. And trust me, I did not need to see what was in his cart. I've also run into old friends that I haven't seen in years, that I probably wouldn't have had any contact with, if it hadn't been for the chance meeting. In a case like that, no, I don't hate seeing them. Overall, I'd rather shop alone, and take care of my shopping list, and head home. When it takes forever to move on and I'm stuck in a store for hours, talking to somebody I barely remember, it definitely isn't my idea of a fun time. Overall though, I don't run into people all that often. I've lived in the same area for years, and I've probably run into a grand total of 15 people I knew at a store. On another note, one of my best friends met her future husband at a grocery store. Which puts a completely different spin on things.

Well it depends on the situation... if it is Chatty Cathy who has nothing better to do with her time than contimplate the reasoning of life over the fresh broccoli, then yes I hate it. I haven't the time to enlighten her. Also, when I decide to go to the store in my sweatpants with my shoes untied... then yes.

But if it is someone I haven't seen in awhile, and they just want to say hi and exchange numbers and let me get back to the 47 items still left on my list, then I am pretty ok with it.

I like that I now live in a town where no one knows me. I can get in and get out at a Superman pace, whereas where I lived takes me an hour for 3 items.

Hugs to you, and I promise if I ever see you in the store, I will ignore and move on.

Doesn't that sound horrible?! But yes, usually I do. If I am in a store, I'm probably busy and do not really have time to chit chat. Does that make me a horrible person?

Most of the time. I like to shop alone and that includes not running into people.

Yes, because then I feel like I have to go talk to them, and some of them will talk for hours.
