I'm a Tony Stewart fan and while I would have loved for him to have made the Chase this year he had an off year during the beginning of the season. Tony himself admitted that his team was not consistent which is what the team needs to be in order to make the Chase. Also, this year has showed that there are so many talented teams that it's hard. Every year it's going to get harder and harder to make the Chase and there are going to be some great teams that aren't going to make it. You can have all the talent in the world and not make the Chase.

Tony will make it next season. They are going to use this as a building block and learn from their mistakes so they are back in the mix with the other Chasers.

Given the fact that Tony is one of the best drivers on the circuit today, yes he should have made the Chase. The team, however, did not have the consistency that is necessary to acquire enough points. Also, and even Tony admits this himself, some of his diversions on the track in dealing with other competitors turned around and bit them.

I am not a Tony Stewart fan. But, I do think he may have the best raw talent in NASCAR. With the sport the way it is today, it takes a total team effort to make the Chase.

First off, I am not a Tony Stewart fan, but I think he is a skilled driver. I don't think that Tony should have made the chase. His consistentcy was completely off this year and I would hate to see NASCAR change the rules to allow big names to run. I wouldn't care if Gordon or Junior missed, it is their faults and NASCAR should not change the rules for them.

1. No!! the reason for the chase and the championship is to reward consistency. That is something that some people can't understand. Why reward someone who wins one week then ends up in the back the next. That's the debate that changed the system to the chase in the first place. Matt was consistent and was rewarded for his consistency by a championship with only 1 win and many many top 10s. While someone else, Newman?, won 10 races with one week a win the next week last place.

2. Yes he is one that I have respect for.

hi. im not a stewart fan, and i dont think he should have made the chase if his numbers didnt add up.

im not a big fan of the points system--i dont think it rewards good driving as much as it takes away for bad driving (or bad luck)....

sooooo... its good not to see stewart in the chase. there is always a few that are out (last year jr and gordon).... but thats how it works.
