I heard bleach does not in fact kill mold, so I was wondering if H202 does? I have mold on my floor joists, a dehumidifier is running in the basement to take care of the moisture problem as the basement is sealed, but just sat with moisture for a few months. So my source of the problem is fixed.

Does Hydrogen Peroxide Kill Mold

There is no chemical that will remove the toxins produced by the mold in your home. You can kill a spore but the toxins remain. By the way, bleach and hydrogen peroxide producers will not claim that their product kills mold. It may remove the staining but that is not the same as removing the mold or its toxins. You have to pull all the wood and everything at least 1 foot beyond where the water seeped through. This must be removed under negative air pressure, in full containment, bagged, and removed from the home. There is NO easy or simple solution and anyone who tells you something else doesn't know what they are taking about. 24% of the population has a limited ability to removed mold toxins and exposure can lead to permanent upper and lower lung disease and is associated with neurological damage. This comes from the World Health Organization and has been adopted by the CDC. If I am scaring you, I hope so because you should be scared. If you don't fix the problem correctly, you could lose your health, your ability to work, and much more than some flooring.

Hydrogen Peroxide will turn your hair orange but won't kill mold. Bleach will help to get rid of it and therefore is probably killing it. The best thing I ever tried is Tilex Mildew cleaner but you have to ventilate or wear a mask if you care for your lungs. And it does help to prevent it. You can tell by a quick whiff that there are bleach agents in it.

Make sure you empty your de-humidfier often and clean it periodically, It is supposed to be distilled water but it can be toxic, too, so NEVER let a pet (or human) taste the water!

You might also try the cleaning first and if you totally cannot get rid of it paint with a good paint that will cover it and help also to prevent it. Your friendly paint store or hardware people can tell you what's best. Kilz or something like that.

Yes, I have had a similar problem and the Tilex took care of it but we ended up painting it, too.

Mold needs two things to survive, moisture and darkness. Remove the moisture and the mold will die on its own. The product the one person was trying to think of is called KILZ, it is a paint which covers mold. You can use it if you want, but if the source of the moisture is gone, the mold will no longer be a problem other than unsightly. A little bleach water in a spray bottle will kill it if you don't want to wait. Personally, I'd just let it die instead of adding more moisture, then put on a dust mask, use a stiff brush and a shop vac to clean up the mold.

Try using the new Clorox scented bleach (lemon or pine) if the bleach smell offends you. Use (ratio 3-4:1) 3 or 4 parts bleach to 1 warm water. Wear gloves , safety glasses and have windows open. Use a sponge to apply and then wipe off with rinsed sponge. This works the best.

regular H2O2 that you purchase at the store will not do a very good job.. it is only 3% H2O2.. the peroxide that you are looking for is food grade H2O2(35%).. the best place that i have found to buy it is in the local health food store.. it is relatively expensive though, compared to the 3%.. it will kill most anything if you use enough of it..

id let it sit for a few minutes before wiping it off..

hydrogen peroxide kills the bacteria that cause infection to our bodies. i highly doubt it would work for mold. try using ammonia, or calling a professional.

Nope, H202 won't kill it. Bleach will though. You have to have a strong solution...don't dilute it if at all possible, let it stand there for a few minutes then scrub and rinse well. Good Luck!
