Black Sabbath came out and said that they were followers of Satan in the late 60's and early 70's. This song reflects to me just who Satan is. He is the type that looks good at first but once you are in his grasp he uses you and will discard you. It is about deception. Satan will use any means to decieve a person and draw them away from the One who really loves them.

Buddy your best answer is wrong let me correct them for giving you the wrong information, Black Sabbath had the idea to make music that scared people, why because they knew people paid money to get scared, why else would people have seen horror movies. So making their "scary" music people believed that they were satanic and they were not and they actually asked themselves what the hell did they get themselves into since they started getting requests to play for satanic cults. They played for those people because thats where the money was and they wanted money, just like everyone so its not taboo to want money. I have seen multiple documentaries and and interviews and I have read a few books about Heavy Metal, Black Sabbath, and Ozzy Osbourne. So looking at your "best" answerer's answer they contradict themselves because why would followers of satan make a song talking about how you should watch out for the devil, because he will take you away from the ones you love or love you. Now if you really pay attention too the lyrics its basically talks about how seductive and manipulating the devil is. The song talks about what the devil can do and that the devil cannot be trusted.

First, the title. According to an article in Wikipedia:
"N.I.B." does NOT stand for "Nativity in Black." Drummer Bill Ward had a beard that singer Ozzy Osbourne said looked like the nib of a fountain pen. The band named the song after the nib and added initials so the name would be more mysterious.
As to the song, the singer is Lucifer, otherwise known as Satan or the devil, he is trying to seduce someone to love him and follow him, as in the refrain:
