A mature healthy, aquarium can usually go a week without food. Automatic fish feeders can be very inexpensive and handy if you plan to be away regularly. I go to the cottage every weekend, and haven't lost a fish from either my saltwater and freshwater tanks (and I don't have filters in my freshwater tanks).

While this may vary depending up on variety of fish the short and is "No."
Most fish don't eat every day in the wild. In America we tend to think if a live animal, or us humans, doesn't eat it every day the animal will starve. The contrary is true. Fish, like most animals in the wild have to hunt or wait for food supplies. A lot of fish owners actually over feed their fish. I tend to vary what I give them each day. Leaving fish over the weekend certainly is not going to kill them. Nor, is it animal cruelty. It may in fact actually help them not become bloated from overfeeding and not polluting the tank with uneaten food. Some people recommend giving your fish a fast every now and again to simulate conditions in the wild. Larger agressive fish may take it out on their tankmates but I highly, highly doubt that. Knowing what kind of fish and tank size would help.
My advice is to feed them before you leave and they will be more than fine for two days. I have a ten gallon tank on my desk at work and I almost never feed my fish on the weekend and they are all pefectly fine and have been several months. If you're really that worried about it most pet stores sell a battery operated feeder system if you fish can eat dry food. (I was told my dwarf frog needed frozen but I have seen him eat dry when I offer it.) It consists of a drum you fill with food and attach to the feeder. It has a variable slide so that you can control the amount of food it releases. It will turn one revolution when you first install the batteries and then will turn again 12 hours from then. It will turn every 12 hours so it will feed the fish twice a day. They do come in different drum capacities. If you are going on holiday you may consider this as sometimes one can become detained in travel. It also helps to have an emergency fish sitter just in case. If you go that route the best thing to do is get a two week, seven day pill box (if the amount of food will fit in there) that has the days of the week on each little compartment. Put a days worth of food in each day then your sitter will know how much to feed them. It is also important if you have a sitter to tell them not to feed them double if they skip a day. If you're feeding larger fish plastic snack baggies can be used the same way.
My local fish store guru (fifty years experience) had nothing but bad things to say about those five, or seven day feeder pyramids. Fish will keep eating on those and will not stop. They pollute the water and do not always nourish the fish enough.
Hope this helps.

your fish will be fine for two days, even 3 or 4 don't worry. any more than that and you should have someone come in and feed them. don't use those tablets, their not good for the water quality. imagine what happen if you leave food out in your kitchen for a week, the air quality will suffer.
whe you feed your fish, give them a bit at a time, watch them eat it all before addiong more. when they stop eating what you put in, stop feeding. one of the most common mistakes people make it over feeding their fish. over feeding doesn't result in fat fish, it means the excess food rots in the tank and your fish die.

It does very with species but generally no your fish will not die if you do not feed them for two days, much longer then that then you might have a problem, it is also good to skip a day of feeding once a week because it is worse to overfeed your fish then underfeed them due to the bacteria uneaten food causes.

No, I have left my fish for about four days when I have went camping. I just feed them really good before I leave. If I am gone longer then that I buy them fish food tablets that disolve so the fish can get food. You will be fine. I have done it many of times in the summer due to camping trips

Not at all. Most fish don't need to eat every day anyways. If you're going out of town, feed them well right before you leave. That way, if they're aggressive fish, they'll stay calmer longer, and everyone will be alive when you come back!

It might depend on the type of fish. But generally, I'd have to say no.
I have goldfish, and I was told that they can go without eating for up to 3 weeks I think it was.
If you're going on vacation, all you need to do is clean the tank as well as possible and then not feed them until you come back. They will be fine.
If you're really concerned, you can always go to the pet store and get food tablets to put in the tank.

No. Most fishes are not going to die for lack of food...they can eat anything in the tank...if you left lights on...water plants are growing, that's some kind of food fishes eat...but you can't leave saltwater fishes too long without any food...they are meat eater...they need live food...

YES. they will also die if you over feed them so dont try to give them extra to make up for the days when they will not be fed. I did that to my sisters two year old gold fish and they died.

Depends on what kind they are. They make little tablets that will feed fish for 7 days though.
