There have been a lot of different things said since the franchise first premiered in the 1970's. First, they said there would be a total of nine movies, then when the most recent trilogy came out they said that was going to be all. Now, there have been hints that the follow-up trilogy could be made by an up-and-coming production team, sort of to pass the torch to the next generation. Of course, there is always the problem that a lot of people were very angry about the last movie that was made (older people didn't like the new sorts of characters and plot lines, while conservatives thought it was a veiled put-down against President Bush).

Persoanally, I've always thought Star Trek was better anyways, but that is because they are in different genres.

Star Trek is Science Fiction.

Star Wars is Garbage.

No, there will not be an episode 7............but George Lucas has said there may be a TV series based on the Star Wars universe. Whether or not it actually happens, who knows. There are also the Clone Wars cartoons.....

As much as Lucas says no. I still don't think that he will ever turn his back to the whole universe. I think if the TV series doesn't take over after Episode 6, there might be an episode 7. I think he would go off the Timothy Zahn novels (if not...he should).

No.

But there is likely to be other Star Wars Universe TV and Movies in the future.

With different characters and different writers/directors.

I am hoping for a Quentin Tarantino version.

I doubt it. They already did everything. Killed the bad guys. So what's left, Luke going to the grocery store or visiting his sister on the week-end.
