TOUCHPAD
We got a touchpad that came with our laptop. It's just a little area that you move your finger around instead of using a mouse. It's a little slower if you are trying to play a game or something, but it's way better than the old little buttons they had stuck in the keyboard before. It works fine.

Ocaisional use is ok but if you use your laptop as you main computer the I would buy a mouse (go for a cordless mouse). this is to avoid RSI accociated with unfavourable ergonomics ot Touchpads.

RSI: Repetitive strain injury (RSI), also called repetitive stress injury, is a loose group of conditions from overuse of the computer, guitar, knife or similar motion or tool. It is an occupational overuse syndrome affecting muscles, tendons and nerves in the arms and upper back; hence it is also known as work related upper limb disorder or WRULD. The medically accepted reason it occurs is when muscles in these areas are kept tense for very long periods of time, due to poor posture and/or repetitive motions.

It is most common among assembly line and computer workers. Good posture, ergonomics and limiting time in stressing working conditions can help prevent or halt the progress of the disorder; stretches, strengthening exercises, massages and biofeedback training to reduce neck and shoulder muscle tension can help heal existing disorders.

Advantage- the pad's position is fixed relative to the keyboard, and very short finger movements are required to move the cursor across the display screen.

Major disadevantage is that they take time getting use to and are quite difficult to use
