The CD key that was used to load Windows on your computer was among several that were reported as pirated. When service pack 2 was released, Microsoft put in code to disable all such systems running 'illegal' copies of Windows.

Microsoft will give you a special price to make it legal (purchase XP). They will email you the key and instructions and also the CD in mail. All this can be done online.

If you know for sure that copy is indeed legal, contact Microsoft.
