Firstly, I have to agree with Cool Dude, because the two Airplane films were not only absolutely hilarious, but they also inspired the majority of great comedy films which came after.
Usually, the film that gets given the accolade of greatest film ever is Citizen Kane, but I have to say that Casablanca, for me is far better. The Godfather Part 1 & 2 are also great and just to add another bit of humour I have to say This Is Spinal Tap.

Mine are:
Star Wars; Forest Gump; 12 Angry Men; Back to the Future; Terminator; The 39 Steps (Hitchcock version). Some of these films were truly great when I saw them the first time but would not have the same impact now. But that does not mean they are not great.

Oh, there's so, so many but I have to agree that Highlander is definitely up there amongst the greats! I've watched it dozens of times.
Another film I watch over and over again is.......(don't laugh)..,,,...Groundhog Day!
Yeah, I know, but I like it!

Supposedy, Citizen Kane.
Though I prefer Time Bandits, and The Life of Brian's pretty good too.
