Racism in America is alive and well. It is better than it was in the 1800's and the early to mid 1900's but it is not gone and probably never will be. There will always be people who are shallow and see the world as Black and White. There will always be people who can not get past their own self-righteous attitudes and will simply believe someone is bad or good based on appearance.
If anything, Racism is broader now than it has been in the past. I have witnessed first hand racism both against myself and between others. The sad thing is, most of the racism I experienced was perpetrated by African-American's and was usually directed at African-Americans. Unfortunately, this area of racism is mostly igored. We, as a society, seem to think that racism is only possible when the "majority" race is degrading the "minority" race. This is not true! Racism knows no boundaries and really is color-blind too.

Racism in America has changed. It still exists, and it's not as harmful as it was, but it's different.

The lynchings are gone, nobody does comedy "in blackface", the "Jim Crow" cars are gone, segregation in schools and public accomodations is gone, but there's a lot of racism, and no one seems to think it's racism because it comes from blacks.

Oprah exults about having white employees. Would a white male who told the world about having black employees get away with that?

Eddie Murphy makes fun of a stereotypical black man in his poem "Cill my Landlord". Could Jeff Foxworthy do the same poem?

Affirmative Action doesn't remedy discrimination. It IS discrimination. All you need is a functioning mind and an honest heart to see that.

These things and more go on, and they are racism, and they are harmful to blacks. They are probably not quite as harmful as what preceded them, but the big difference is that they are self-inflicted injuries, and not (yet?) recognized as being counter to their own interests.

properly, if someone suggested that you've been loopy, might want to that make you loopy! you want to seem on the source. The Democratic party surpassed our united states to the Republicans in 2000. The evidence of their administration is what we've got. Do you spot safe practices, guard or guard. NO. The Republicans went through our surplus, then stole, then begged, AND BORROWED from different international locations. Now, in case you do not realize that they try to bust the authorities, then you quite favor to ask WHY did develop the authorities through 75% and not in any respect make ANY thanks to pay for it. in the journey that they did not understand what they were doing, they truly should not be listened to yet in the journey that they did, they do no longer need to be entrusted with our united states again. i believe they knew and that we had no different option and they KNEW that they were going to extract the floor off of our backs to make it suitable. they're hoping that we do precisely like spoiled kids and blame the party it quite is being fiscally sound. They attempt this each and every time through elevating the nationwide debt and then even as the Democrats get in THEY stability THE BUDGETS and CORRECTS the blunders the Repubicans have had. in the journey that that they had truly presented a fashion to pay for the upward push of authorities that incurred even as they were in place of work you would possibly want to were SCREAMING. This using the Democrat as a scapegoat has even maximum BLIND PPL SEEING how the Republicans have abused the ppl and our united states. very last yet no longer LEAST, what's being performed now might want to be to ideal a topic. what's the REPUBLICANS rationalization for DOING IT!

Some still exist. How else would we have laws that tell minorities that they aren't good enough to get jobs without government giving them a leg up? Not only do we have racism, it's state sponsored. And the really sad thing is, most minorities vote for the party that is telling them they aren't good enough.

Racism is alive and well in America. However it cannot be linked to one individual race, say Caucasians, because from experience the vast majority of it is not them. However, I believe that when you say, " It's because I'm black." or, "It's because I'm a mexican." your being racist by assuming that all white people hate your race. Racism will always be in america as long as their are stupid people.

I think Racism is created by politicians. People are people until one is given preferential treatment over the other. So yes we still have racism in this country. But so does every other nation on this earth. We are no better than some, nor are we any worse.

It's racism, and you are confusing it with an understanding of the relative strengths and weaknessess of a group of people.

Blacks don't trust whites, whites don't want to be near blacks, but everyone hates the Mexicans.
