Mist of Avalon>>> by Marion Zimmer Bradley....?

I have read many of Marion Bradleys avalon books does anybody know of any other book or authors that you recommend that are similar to this one...Thanks

Well another series that I really love about Arthur is by Bernard Cornwall. There are three books called: The Winter King, Enemy or God, and Excaliber. It is certainly less magical then Marion Zimmer Bradleys books but he does do a good job of showing events as possibly having a rational explaination but maybe not. Cornwall is more of a historian and has created a believable account of the story of King Arthur as told by one of the Knights of the Round table. It has a similar them though of the struggle between the old religion and the zealot Christians that are slowly taking over in politics and general popularity. The charactors are beautifully and richly done and he takes some great twists on some famous charactors (watch for his Lancelot). Nimue takes a very important role in this series. It is certainly a lot harsher then MIst of Avalon and really portrays the horrors of the dark ages.

I enjoyed this series so much I read it about 3 times.

Sorry I just thought of something else you might enjoy. House of Dreams and House of Illusions by Pauline Gedge. They are about a girl who becomes a concubine to an Egyptian Pharoh. Very similar feel to Mists or Avalon. A beautiful told story. I have read those two books about 4 or 5 times.

I've read them too & think they're brilliant. I don't know anyone as good, but you could try Mercedes Lackey. I've read 'The Black Swan', which is an ok book, but I think she's written many others.
