It's not bad luck, but...there was this guy once who saw a penny in the street that was tails up and so he went to pick it up and when he did he got nailed by a school bus. The penny flew from his hand and into a AC compressor on the side of his neighbors house. The penny jammed the fan and caused a short that led to a fire that consumed not only the now dead mans neighbors but the entire town...still doesn't mean the penny was bad luck though!! :D

No because again There is no bad or good luck. That is a wives tail.
One would assume that finding a Penny ( no pun about me please) would be good luck because you would be one cent riches then before. But since the penny has little value now a days I would say leave their for a little kid to find :)

Not if you're looking for a piece of tail. Actually finding money, any side up is lucky, or else you never look anywhere but down.

I have heard that pennies on the ground (heads or tails up) means someone on the other side of the veil who loves you is thinking of you. :-) So, it would be a good thing to find one and know this, n'est ce pas? :-)

That is another ancient tale. For when you found a penny and bent down to pick it up could have cost you your life. That is how poor those people were at that time, They would kill each other over a penny....................

I've been picking them up for years and I've never had bad luck. I think thats one of those things you have to believe in for it to happen.

I guess it depends on if you are superstitious or not. I'm not, so I don't think so. Hey, if you get 99 more you'll have a dollar in change, that sounds good to me!
