I agree. It seems to me that this interference is really a means to an end. BIG business is running the show. Democracy worldwide is good for their business - better trade options and more freedom to come on in and set up shop. We better wake up and realize there are run-away tactics to homogenize the world trade and what we can buy!! Business is not concerned with fairness, only the bottom dollar.

you bring up some good arguments. I wonder what your background is. I have to say as an American I am torn about the direction of our nation. On one hand, I support our military and the troops and I support the idea of freedom (not necessarily Democracy because the two are not really the same thing). On the other hand I am greatly disturbed by the methods used by our government to try to impose their will on other nations. I believe we do not have a right to try to change these other countries. Instead, I think we have an obligation to conduct dialogue with these nations and try to understand each other. I disagree with the notion that America is "The Great Satan" simply because not all American's feel the same as our government does. There are 300,000,000 Americans in the world now and I guarentee many of them are questioning the present governments motives and actions. The problem is, when you are brave enough to stand up and speak out, you usually get repressed, censored, or called "unpatriotic" for your point of view. I would argue that someone who is AFRAID to stand up is unpatriotic.
I often hear of others saying we should support the war in Iraq because it is a fight for America's freedom. However, I do not see it that way. I see it as this administrations own crusade and our young men and women in the military are paying the ultimate price for this ignorant and blind policy. I am VERY supportive of those soldiers, sailors, and airmen involved in the conflict but I do not agree with the reason they are there. I also believe they are doing a lot of good but I agree with you that our present actions are causing more harm than good. I guess the judgement will be left to history but I would say your question is a good question that really has millions of answers and, I am sure, I will get some grief for feeling the way I do.

Very good question,,,ever since the Revolution America has tried to spread democracy onto other countries....The Philippines, and Vietnam are just a few examples..they called this white mans burden...it was the white Americans burden to spread democracy and our beliefs on to others because we were soo superior...these are clear examples of why many other country's do not like America...After the French Revolution they tried a democracy government and it failed..this proves that democracy does not work for every one the culture has to warrant it. Many countries find America to be over bearing..this may could pose problems for terrorism...

I am not going to get to far into this question, as its quite a question. Just when people start spouting "America" it makes me nervous. I am an American, and weather you like it or not I do not make decisions when it comes to what we do in other countries. I get 1 vote, and for many years my vote did not even matter.
BUT you see we don't do it to be God or to see a copy of us, trust me we all know this country is in trouble. We do it because years and years ago we were EXPECTED to and now if we don't do it, if we turned our backs on all of you, you would all sit around bitching that we don't give a crap. Make up your minds folks!
And if you are American, well stop sitting around preaching hate and become a decent politician.

No, I am proud of our government when we step in to help other countries when there is a need & we have the cappablity. However, I hate the fact that our current government is wasting billions & comprimising thousands of great Americans' lives - daily. The Mid-East/ Arabian countries have been fighting over religious differences since recorded history began. They will be fighting when it ends. Why are we involved?

America is the country all others wish they could be.We only want peace. But if we are attacked we will come to your country and take you and your government out. If Saddam had not defied the world he would still be in power. If Al Quida had not attacked us they would still have a country to call home. But instead they hide in holes in fear. come to think of if that's where Saddam was found. If we are left alone we ARE a peaceful nation. We pay our tax dollars to help third rate nations straighten themselves out.Muslim extremists have always faught and caused problems in the world. You are picking a fight with a country that can squash you.

When ever countries get into trouble....who is called upon for aid?
The United States!
When Kuwait was invaded,by Iraq, short wave radio messages were begging the United States for help. Not the UN, not the French, Germans, British, Canadians or Russians, but the United States.
Who was looked upon for aid after natural disasters? The United States.
I'm almost to the point to say "screw them all - America for Americans"

Our country is basically the safest place to live. So apparently something here is working. I look at it this way: 1. If we DON'T step in to help a country that is having a hard time, we are called the rich, fat Americans who don't care about anyone else. 2. If we DO step in, we get bashed because we are stepping in to territory that isn't ours. Conclucion: Everyone hates us either way, so why not help people out right?

Interesting since just recently certain countries have started criticizing the US for not involving itself in Darfur.
CITIZENS OF THE WORLD: Make up your damn minds! If you want US protections, then start acting like it and stop making us out as the bad guy if we choose to listen and NOT play globo-cop.
