YES, YES, YES.

No matter what anyone says YES. It will help to wean the baby from the bottle. All three of my children were taking juice in a sippy by 4-5 months old and all they wanted their bottles for was milk and soon enough they didn't wasnt that anymore.

Tell your sister to introduce the sippy ( she can even buy the Nubby sippy's at Wal-Mart they have the soft spout) in order to help her baby with the change. It's also nice when they are teething.

Go ahead and give it to the baby. It is a good idea to introduce a sippy to a baby once they can hold their own bottle. Start wth water first though. They may not be able to master this until they are at least 1 year of age though. If the baby rejects it then put it away and introduce it in a few weeks. It's the same for solid food too. Just don't force it on them or he/she could become resistant since it won't be a fun thing for them.

No. A baby that young shouldn't be having juice at all. The AAP recommends exclusively breastfeeding for the first six months. Exclusive breastfeeding means no solids, no formula, no water, no juice. Solids can be started around 6 months if a baby is ready, and juice is ok after 10-12 months if watered down at least 50%. (Though juice is really not very healthy, being mostly sugar with a lot of the fiber and vitamins lost in the juicing process).

Sure the baby is plenty old enough for a sippy. If you use juice make sure it is 100% juice.

If the baby can handle it then there is no problem with that as long as the sippy cup with juice is not replacing formula or breastmilk.

If she wants to. I think that a sippy cup is almost just like a bottle.
