Because gay men think with their penis, and I'm gay and hate to say that but it's true. I wish they could just have a nice conversation without thinking about the sex.

Society has trained most gay men to think they can not have anything more than a one night stand. We are told we can't have long term relationships because we are gay men, we are told we can't get married. Hear something like this often enough and well you start believing it's all you can have. Most guys I think actually believe this, don't want anything more.
I suggest you look somewhere else. That and maybe make it clear in the beginning that you aren't going home with them, no matter how well the meeting/date goes. That way you don't build up and emotional attachemtn to them. Last just don't go home with them.
It's hard, but when you find the one who understands this, it will be much better.

If you meet guys in a cruise bar, what else will they think? If you meet them through a social club, organization, or volunteering at a non-profit, there won't be that expectation.
Men are men though - most are hoping to get lucky even on a first date, but aren't typically offended if that doesn't happen.

Probably because you haven't been clear and upfront about communicating your intentions.
If you clearly state that you are going home alone, or that you need more than one date to decide whether to have sex with someone, you should not get a clash in expectations again.

Yeah, I agree. Its nice when two guys can talk on different subjects without sex having to ruin the thing.
