I live in South Texas and he lives in the Midwest. I am already flying in a couple days before New Year's Eve to be with him. I can't get there before due to lack of childcare. I want to do something different to surprise him yet don't want it to be too involved as it's hard to plan from so far away. Have already gotten a shirt, stadium seats and the tickets. He is a huge fan of his team and we are just planning on watching the game on TV on New Year's Eve, but I wanted him to be able to see it live. Thank you.

That is such a sweet thing you've done!

When you get there stick them in a Sports Illustrated and give him the magazine while he's on his way to the restroom.

It'll be such a thrill for him so close to gameday.

If it's possible, I'd wait until you saw him in person to give him the tickets. That way, you get the fun of seeing his face when he realizes what you've done for him - I know that I would be pretty overwhelmed if someone did that for me. You could do something like asking him to get something for you, and having him discover the tickets and swag, something that would really catch him off guard.

If you can't keep the secret that long, or want to do it via long distance, you could just tell him you're sending him a shirt that you found. When he opened the package, he'd find everything else. Not as fun, though, because you don't get to see the reaction.

Either way, a great gesture on your part.

Or stick it in a gift that he wouldn't like-- like an old album that he would never listen to, or a book he would never read, so at first, he'll think, "why...did she get me this??", then they'll fall out and he'll really be surprised!
