Could be it was too short. I'm presuming his punctuation (capital letters etc) were better than yours, otherwise if he is in grammar school that would be enough for a detention.
My teacher once refused to mark my work because she said it was copied out of a book -the highest praise I could have asked for.

He might want to furnish you with a detention on the grounds that you deliberately ignored a scheduled adventure (like a quiz) that you've been meant to attend. So he can, in spite of the indisputable fact that it really is not any longer honest. And to be honest, in case you defined your circumstances absolutely to him and he nonetheless needs to furnish you the detention, then he's not any longer performing like a good instructor in any respect. If he continues to be adamant about it, i'd make an appointment to work out the historic previous branch head, or the critical (tell him that you recommend to take action as that you'll charm the detention) to get your quiz rescheduled, or only to enable them recognize your instructor has been bullying you. Or both, easily. that could want to scare him into the right body of recommendations, or if no longer, it's going to furnish you with a good probability to flee the detention (that you do not deserve). instructors and absolutely everyone in a school must be there to assist convey out the perfect in you. often times self-discipline is critical, and some youthful ones want a detention or 2 (or ten) to benefit, yet you of direction have not carried out some thing incorrect.

as a teacher myself (currently not teaching) i know that there are 2 types of detentions. One for bad behaviour and the other for not doing homework or not paying enough attention to homework tasks. Sometimes kids chat while homework is being explained or they dont bother writing down homework instructions etc. so they get them wrong, i have a word with them once if they get it wrong and dont expect them to make the same mistake (cause i usually write in their books to "pay attention to homework tasks". That is fair dont you think? if a child gets a detention it should be explained either by means of a small note next to the homework (insufficient or not following homework guidelines) or bunking or whatever really. If your brother's teacher had not done this they might have been too busy to make a note of it (yes teachers are SWAMPED with work) however, a short letter from your mum to the teacher should get some attention to it, and a short explanation. Try not to defend your brother if he did something wrong, he'll only end up being inspired to keep pushing the wrong boundaries, otherwise, take care.

Get your parents to write a letter to the principal explaining what happened, and ask for a copy of the school districts 'detention policy'
Also in this letter ask if what the child did a legal reason for getting detention.
Do this in WRITING, schools ignore you if you call on phone, cause there is no proof the parent even talked to the school. If it's in writing, you can take further action if school ignores helping you.
See, if what the child did is NOT written in their detention policy, they CAN NOT do this!!
Schools will NOT tell parents that the school HAS to follow legal procedures in everything they do. So they do any kind of crap they want.
I bet if your parents do this, the detention will be wiped off his records. Oh yea, tell your parents to make sure this is wiped off his records if the school CAN NOT do this.
Good luck!

I would think that his teacher must have provided a reason for the detention. Is it possible that your brother literally took this out of a book (which would be plagiarism)... How old is he?
Your parents should ask the teacher why he has detention.

If that is all he wrote, it might be because he might not have written enough to complete the assignment? Although even that reason sounds odd. Maybe he took it from the plot of a movie or something so the teacher thought the assignment was plagiarized?

if the teacher said that the questions were good, then i dont get why the teacher also gave him a detention, unless it was because mabye he copied it out a book. Surely if the answers were good, the teacher should praise him, not give him a detention?!

thats weird.. ask the teacher, see what the teacher has to say about that. There's no good reason for that.. take care of your brother, there are some teachers who are pervertic and do stuff to children.. trust me.. I know. I had a 3rd gd teacher who would always ask me and my friends to stay late to "help" him clean the class room.. and well never knew why and now that I'm grown up I undestood what was going on..

Could he possibly have plagerized? The teacher should have written a reason for the detention when she gave the slip to him/your parents/the office and principal. I'm sure there was reason.

Did he plagiarize (not cite the original author)? The teacher should make it clear why he got the detention. Your parents should insist that she clarify this with them and your brother.
