my social studies teacher in 9th grade had us do much of the assignments out of class...a list of questions we answered from the book. Instead of him lecturing, we did a lot of projects and then every friday did 'current events' where he'd give a list of like 20 questions related to recent news and then we'd answer them in a group and switch papers and discuss them while we corrected...whoever got the most right got a piece of candy! it was awesome and my favorite class.

Class of 2001!
That is definetly a hard one because I know there were days when I just did NOT want to get up and have to sit through class. The best part about school was being able to socialize with my friends, drill team practice, yearbook class because we got to run around school taking pictures. Classes like History, English, Science that was just something you HAD to do. I didn't need anyone to motivate me to do it I knew I had to do it so I did it. The best part was inbetween class catching up with friends and kissing the boyfriend. Kids have to understand that school is just something you have to do. If they don't like it let them go live in Africa or Mexico where kids don't have to go to school or in some cases can't go to school and see how long they can handle it.

I had my Honors Advance Writing class first thing in the morning at 7:25 AM my sophomore year of h.s., and my teacher was so awesome. I never slept in, because I wanted to get to his class! He was a hippie, who had tye-dyed curtains covering all of the lights, lava lamps everywhere, and we had no desks. Instead, we sat in these purple cushy chairs and did our writing and sharing there. He also brought in breakfast for us every morning, and some mornings, he'd tell us all to take a 30 minute "power nap" and we'd all go back to sleep. I did some of my best writing in his class!

it depends on what subject, and how you go about teaching your class. i had a teacher that would make us sit in a circle and do our work. You gotta get their attention. sit in the circle with them. ask them what they wanna get out of the class. and see what would work as a group. doing the class work altogether as not to have too much home work, would they rather work independently. you should really ask ur class. you would be surprised of their answers. Good Luck.
