his girlfriend's 18, if that's what you want to know:

if his age now is 'b' and her age is 'g' (for boy and girl, duh!)

The man was same age as his girlfriend is now (b-g) years ago.

So her age was g-(b-g) = 2g - b

he is twice that age, so b = 2 x (2g - b) = 4g - 2b

So 3b = 4g.

So 3/4 b = g

b = 24, so g = 3/4 x 24 = 18.

the man is twice the age that his girlfriend was,

the man is 24,his girlfriend was 12 when the man same age his girlfriend is now

let x = the current age of the girlfriend = the age of the man when

the girlfriend was 12

difference in age now = (24 - x)

the man was x years of age when the girl was 12

hence, difference in age then = (x-12)

since the difference in age is constant,

24 - x = x-12 >>>>>> 2 x = 36 >>>>>> x = 18

therefore, the girl is now 18, the man is 24

when the man was 18, the girl was 12

the difference in age is 6

i hope that helps

The answer is 24. They are both 24 there for 12 would be the other number.

Before Present

Man y 2x

G F X Y

As difference of ages is same before and present

y-x=2x-y and 2x = 24

3x-2y=0 and x = 12

So 3(12) - 2y = 0

so y = 18 so G F is 18

Let's assume, that:
m - current man's age
g - current girl's age
then: (m-g) - is the difference between their ages
therefore, we can write the equation:

m= 2( g-(m-g))
m= 2( g-m+g)
m=2(2g -m)
m= 4g -2m
3m = 4g
3/4m = g

it is only proportion, so :
if man is 20, girl will be 15
if man is 24, girl 18
if man is 28, girl 21

Answer: there isn't any exact answer, we can indicate several options though from the proportion "g =3/4m" :*

What exactly are you asking for? I'm assuming the age of his girlfriend.

m1=his age now
m2=his age then
g1=her age now
g2=her age then

m1=2*g2
m2=g1
m1-m2=g1-g2

so 2*g2-g1=g1-g2, or 3*g2=2*g1, or g1=(3/2)g2.

If he is 24, then m1=24, and g2=12. Therefore she is 18 now. When she was half of his current age, 12, he was 18, which is her age now.
