Don't you think that it would be a good thing to add that 20 million base (illegal alien estimate) to pay into the system? Here in Europe, we've come to terms with the fact that our population is greying and fast. WIthout the new immigrants to pay into the system, it will collapse. Why such hostility then to newcomers?

Sad & sorry we give you that impression. There are some that would like to seal up all our borders with huge expensive walls. Not all Americans feel this way - extremists. some of us do get tired of the (few) immigrants that take advantage of the system(free health care food stamps etc.) but there are americans guilty of that also. What these complainers don't understand is this : I will more than likely hire immigrants for construction labor from now on. Due to the fact they are estatic to get 6.50/hr. and will actually work harder for it than most American laborers.

Nobody would buy into the proposal. The non-religious section of the population that put him in office wanted to see tax reform be the agenda, not social security reform. The problem is that the left doesn't see a problem with SS and the right just wants to get rid of it altogether so there isn't much room for negotiation. The proposal that Bush put out (1-2% in personal savings account) was just an insult, I think. It was barely reform at all. GWB didn't learn anything from Nixon. He just keeps trying to appease the left to get their support and they just keep dumping on him anyway. But, I digress.

If you keep needing more people to pay in, that's called a pyramid scheme. It's going to collapse at some point and those at the bottom will get screwed.

Bush has tried to implement some reforms, but meets resistance from Congress. There have been some changes though -- nothing really significant. If we could get illegal immigrants to pay into the system, believe me we would. It's not that we are hostile towards immigrants, but rather the "illegal" part of that equation.

the right brass at Enron stole from the staff and drained their retirement money. Enron grow to be a scandal, not the common prevalence. Privatizing Social protection grow to be an concept that grow to be around earlier Bush took place of work. the government's doing a awful activity with S.S. and keeps making use of those money for different issues. existence long individuals to this fund could finally end up retiring with not something.

AMERICA DOES NOT WANT TO BE LIKE EUROPE.

Europe had to resort to massive immigration from Islamic countries because of its failed socialist economic system.

The welfare states in Europe have made it impossible for innovation, and business to develop.

Incentives were wiped out as people began to rely on government hand-outs instead of producing their own wealth.

Look at what happened last year - French youth rioted in order to defeat a little law that would barely make a dent in improving the French economy but was perceived as a threat to their "job protections" even though they don't have jobs.

Now, Europe is going to be destroyed from within by Islamic jihadists who have different plans for the future of Europe - EURABIA.

Americans work for that they have and they don't want uneducated, unhealthy illegal aliens coming to America in order to receive free education and free health care because that would mean more of our incomes are taken away by taxes.

President Bush tried to reform Social Security but demagogue Democrats stopped them - they even stood up and cheered during his State of the Union speech when he referenced that.

IF AMERICA BECOMES LIKE EUROPE IT WILL BE JUST AS DYSFUNCTIONAL

Please note that legal newcomers are generally welcomed with open arms. They tend to be educated, have good job prospects, are known to not be criminals, etc.
Illegal aliens on the other hand, are criminals right from the get-go, tend to be poorly educated (which is why they cant get a job in their home country), and there is no background check on them, so they could be child molestors or murderers.
Do you see why there might be a problem with illegals?

Americans try to be self-sufficient. We've been watching Europe for years, and quite frankly, it's not impressive.
