A couple instrumental pieces from Brian Eno spring to mind. One is "Ascent: An Ending: from "Apollo-Atmospheres And Soundtracks" and the other is "1/1" from "Ambient 1 - Music For Airports". The nice thing about instumental music is that it relies strictly on the mood of the music and is not tainted by lyrics that may not have anything to do with your life or the music that is playing.

Now this song goes way back before your time. I was even young when it was popular. I hate to admit it, but I'm 59 years old now. That gives you an idea how old this song is.
It is called "The Restless Wind". I don't remember the female singer's last name, but I believe her first name was Dodie. Maybe you can go into lyrics.com and find it.
