They have a good young team that should be better than last year. 50 wins is not an unreasonable goal. Even inspite of the West being so tough. They won 45 games last year with all sorts of growing pains and no real center for large stretches. This year they will be improved and Kobe is still in his prime. Odom (man poor guy is dealing with a lot) is always productive. Kwame showed signs of having a working NBA body (now if he'd only show signs of a working human brain) and Smush Parker was a nice surprise. And don't forget about Andrew Bynum - when and if he develops, he could be the missing piece that makes them real contenders again.

They should come in 2nd in the Pacific behind the Suns. 50 or so wins should do it. They won't be fighting for a championship for a few more years but they are not a bad team.
And to Nikki - Suns let them? Most of the Suns players were sitting out that game due to different injuries. No body wanted to play the Lakers in the playoffs last year. I don't think anyone was sacred of the Kings. Did the Suns let them take a 3-1 lead and then did they let them almost win game 6 if not for a lucky bounce on a 2nd or 3rd attempt offensive rebound that sent the game to overtime (the shot that Tim Thomas hit a 3 on as time was running out). Well, shouldn't be surprised by your ignorance... you have like a 4% best answer ratio... that says a lot!

I can't stand the Lakers, but I'll be objective and say if the main players are healthy (Kobe and Lamar Odom), they'll win between 48-50 games. Even with the couple off-season acquistions they made over the summer, they're no worse or no better than last season and they won only because Kobe went on his scoring outbursts. They still have a suspect bench, and Lamar isn't 100% mentally there because of the death on his son. They'll finish 3rd in the Pacific, behind the Suns and Clippers.

I don't see the Lakers making the playoffs this season. They will be fortunate to finish with a 500 record and win 41 games. The Clippers will be the best team in LA again for the second season in a row.

I dont like the Lakers much, but I dont hate them. And the only reason they made it to the playoffs last season was cuz the Suns let them.......they lost the last game of the regular season just to avoid playing the Kings in the first round. How in the hell else would the Suns lose by that much? So I dont think any team that needs favors is really gonna get that far.....I say maybe 30 games tops

good analyst. Kobe remains the perfect in the game, yet its confusing too deny LeBron the MVP he has deserved it this twelve months at the same time with his cavs volume one and his insane play. Lakers could beat the Cavs in 6. The lakers have extra length and only a extra perfect crew common. Lakers can could be particular the Cavs dont bypass too loopy from 3 element land even with the actuality that.

46, thanks mostly to Phil Jackson.
I don't like what they've done in the offseason. The point guard position continues to be a problem.
They don't have enough lock down defenders. Brian Cook? Chris Mihm? Smush Parker? Kwame Brown? Yuck.
They'll hover around the 0.500 mark for most of the season, finish in the 7th or 8 slot again.
It's all Kobe, and that just isn't enough. Even Jordan had help.

Like 56, The Lakers have good chance of winning this year if Kobe returns healthy from that minor knee surgery he recently had to repair tissue. Last year they showed chemistry at spurts, this year weak link Devin George has opted for free agency, thank god his is leaving. Luke showed scoring improvement towards the ending of the season, big plus.

I don't even think the Lakers have what it takes this year to make the playoffs, with the improvements the Hornets and Jazz made in the offseason.
