I can only speak for myself. Honesty, faithfulness, sincerity, and lots of humor! I've taught my husband that when things get heated up in an arguement, instead of saying something we "don't" mean, say something funny. It allows us time to cool down, and it clears our minds, making us able to see the other persons point of view.
Hope this helped a little. By the way? I've been married to him for 24 years, and we're "still" laughing at ourselves!

Tied for #1, in my book:
a) To be heard without fear of judgment. Sometimes you don't want someone to "fix it", you just need to vent. Most men can't just be a sounding board for you when you need one. That ability shows respect for your partner.
b) Honesty, no matter what - all too rare, in both genders.

Respect first and foremost! I know my fiance' loves me but I knew first that he respects me above all things!!! Honesty and Trust come second in my book because you have to respect someone in order to be honest with them!!!
