For those of you who have first hand experience with an industrial piercing (a horizontal bar with barbells on the top of your ear) or have had friends who have this piercing, does the initial piercing hurt? Does it hurt for a long period of time thereafter (months)? Is it hard to care for, or easy to get infected? And lastly, is it worth my time and money? Please and thank you :) Only answers from people wo know what I'm talking about!

OK I just had an industrial piercing sat. night (3 days ago). Getting it pierced did hurt, more so with the second hole but only for a second and then it was over and then it hurt a little when she fit the bar in. Definitely was worth it. If you really want it the pain is worth it. Just remember to stay relaxed and breathe and it wont be as bad. That night my ear felt really hot and pinched a little but was in no way unbearable. The next day thru now it doesn't really hurt much, it definitely feels different but can be ignored. It does hurt a little when I clean it or when it gets bumped but again nothing too bad. I've also been taking Ibuprofen. If I touch near the piercing the second hole (the piercing lower down my ear) is a slight bit swollen. And I can't move the bar at all yet. I've heard after the first 2 weeks its gets much better but wont fully heal for 2-6 months. Cleaning it is a little difficult at times. I wash it with Provon (bought at piercers) when I shower every night. When I can move the bar you are supposed to move and twist it to get the soap in it. I do a sea salt soak (about 1/4 tablespoon per 8 ounces of hot water, supposed to taste no stronger than your tears) for 10 min with cotton balls the next morning. I think it will only get infected if you keep touching it with your fingers. I only touch it when cleaning with just washed hands with Provon. Also I don't talk on the phone with that ear and I don't sleep on that side. I make sure nothing but my hair touches it. If you keep it clean I don't think it should get infected. This is my first piercing other than my ear lobes and I was very happy with the result and proud of myself for going thru with it. Definitely was worth my time and money!

particularly, an commercial is any diverse holes linked by using a single piece of jewellery, no longer basically a nicely-recognized horizontal bar. :) 2nd, they could soak as much as and over a year to completely heal. rather some people exerpience scar tissue on the go out holes. this is frequently from stream of the jewellery or touching it too plenty. They flow away while it heals. it is greater painful than basically one piercing, yet that could desire to be obtrusive. Cartilage piercings are fussy and choose rather some endurance and care. Aftercare could comprise 2-3 sea salt soaks according to day. this is complete by using mixing a million/4 teaspooon of sea salt in 8 oz..of very heat water. you may pour some right into a espresso mug, tip your head to a ninety* perspective and carry your ear in the cup for 5-10 minutes. I additionally like letting the nice and comfortable bathe water run on a sparkling piercing for about 5 minutes. warmth promotes blood flow and aids in healing...exceptionally in cartilage because of the fact it has little or no bloodflow. Industrials are basically approximately $10-15 better than a typical piercing, so money isn't a brilliant deal. in case you have no longer have been given the endurance to look after this a pair situations an afternoon for a minimum of a year, then this isn't any longer nicely worth it.
