I have looked and looked and can't find it. And before you accuse me of being greedy and not wanting to help the poor, remember that we are a nation of laws and the overriding law is the Constitution. I am not a Constitutional scholar, but I have read that magnificent document many times and can't find ANYTHING that allows them to confiscate MY money to give it to YOU. In fact, the 10th Amendment SPECIFICALLY prohibits that action.

For those of you who are whining about the "45,000,000 without health coverage", know this--MOST ADULTS THAT DO NOT HAVE HEALTH COVERAGE CHOOSE NOT TO HAVE IT.

So you believe that the 45 Million plus without healthcare should just live with the knowledge that, if they get sick, it will cost them tens of thousands of dollars out of their own pocket to get the same care that those with insurance can get? I think your question was answered above when you were told to read the 16th Amendment. Apparently you think the Constitution ends with the first 10 Amendments and the other 17 that are present do not matter? Also, I do not take money from anyone to pay for healthcare (except myself) and those who are on Medicaid/Medicare also do not take your money. They take the money the 16th Amendment gives the Federal Government the right to take. Also, Medicaid is a STATE program and the 10th Amendment gives all states the ability to tax its residents and businesses. Now, if you really want to decrease your tax burden think about this. Those who make the top 10% of the income pay less taxes when you correlate their contribution as compared tot he contribution of the working class American. When you take overall income and then work some math on their taxes, the richest American's pay roughly 2 to 5% of their income overall to taxes. (of course, those who are rich ALWAYS point out that their percentage is still the lions share of taxes) However, when you look at the average American Worker with a yearly salary of approximately 53,000 per year (AVERAGE MIND YOU!..that is removing the top 10% and including all those who are on welfare and make just 5.15 per hour plus tips) these people pay closer to 20% of their total income. This is the argument that is most important to taxation issues.

The rich get richer by not having to pay taxes and instead usually get their billion dollar wealth subsidized by government money while the working class pay 1/5 of their income to taxes in order to fund those crazy business subsidies.

(how is that for a liberal argument for you!?!)

The point is, TAXATION IS AS MESSED UP AS THE REST OF GOVERNMENT AND IS IN NEED OF SERIOUS OVERHAUL!

You apparently didn't read the 16th amendment.

"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration".

This amendment was the direct result of a supreme court ruling in 1895 that said that income taxes were unconstitutional.

because they are lied to. before each little thing, Obama needs to make insurance better accessible to all. and modify the equipment so as that it really is more cost-effective, and also so as that the reassurance businesses locate it harder to get out of procuring therapy. Amen!

I cannot help but think that without the passage of the godawful populist 17th Amendment, the socialism introduced by FDR would never have happened. When the state governments lost their voice in DC, there was nobody left to check the rampant growth of federal power.
