They were all my least favorite. Unless I need a nap, then the first one is the best to nap to.

To be honest my favorite of The Lord of the Rings film trilogy is The Fellowship of the Ring because it is the first book i read of the trilogy and I have always been intrigued by it. My Second favorite is The Return of the King because it is a much darker film. I really like The Two Towers but it is more of a transitional film between the first and the third film.

I'm like a serious lord of the rings fan. The 3rd one was a bit long (even for me) and I think they should have left about half an hour out of the end as it seemed to drag on a bit. My favourite was the first because i had been waiting to see the story on the big screen since I had read them several years beforehand.

I cracked up reading an above answer saying bits should be kept back for those who read the book, I have read the books repeatedly since I was around 7 years old...and most of the books do not even remotely figure in the films! the films are ok, Return of the King is probably the most stirring imagery wise, but nothing will ever beat the books!

Difficult to say, really. I suppose that "Fellowship" has to remain my favourite, not least because it was the first of the three and it blew me away; and it is probably my favourite of the books. Much as the "Return of the King" is amazing, and the battle scenes are stunning, I did feel it began to drag towards the end, when Frodo and Sam were going to Mount Doom, and with the Grey Havens. "Two Towers" was also stunning.
"Fellowship" I think must get my vote as my favourite of the three.

Return of the King is my favourite - fast paced
Two Towers was the least favourite. Actually I hated the part with the talking trees. I can sleep through this one.

Return Of The King was just mind-blowing. I get goosebumps through every battle-scene. It was the only one of the three where i sat afterwards and just went 'wow'.
Least favourite has to be The Two Towers. It was the typical cliffhanger movie (like Matrix Reloaded). I didnt sit through three hours just have a 'to be continued' thrown at me!!

I loved them all, but if we must engage in picking lint from an Armani suit...
I liked the first one best of all, because it introduced everything anew. Even though it's arguably the slowest if the bunch, being introduced to Gandalf, Aragorn, Arwen etc and seeing the lands of middle earth onscreen for the first time, made the experience special.
Return of the King took way too much time with all the ending scenes, that's my only complaint with that masterpiece.

my fav was the fellowship, my least fav was 2 towers, for being most like and least like the books.
the fellowship was close to the book (for a film adaptation that is) where 2 was the opposite...i was expecting more of a close following of the book after the first film.

The Fellowship of the Ring was my favourite.
The 3rd was far too long for people who hadn't read the books and at least 40 mins of it should have been kept back for a "book readers special edition" - he he!
