O.K. I own a 1992 Chevrolet caprice and when i go online to look at after market acessories i have to choose from a regular caprice or a caprice classic.I just want to know what is the difference between the two or there really isn't a difference?

there is (sometimes) a lot of difference, but basically they are the same except the cosmetic thing where the body is concerned. The classic has a lot more features that are not part of the regular Caprice. Seats, sound system, bells and whistles such as heated mirrors are all part of the classic. Mechanically they are the same thing when it comes to the engine, transmission, and differential. The wheel covers are different, and the side molding is different, and yes you do need to know when you go online (especially) the difference, or you will end up with parts that don't fit. To answer your question; it does make a difference when you order parts and this rings true with aftermarket parts. If you have many accessories such as power seats with lumbar adjustment, then you can be certain you have a classic. The classic is a much more expensive vehicle (when new) and reflects this fact when you buy parts. I hope I have been some help to you. Good Luck!!

If they were selling them today it would be the Caprice LS and the Caprice LT, the Classic was a higher "Trim" level, nicer seats, more chrome, better carpet, nicer hubcaps etc.

nothing really. it's just that the caprice was a police car. so they probably just named one the caprice classic to show the difference between the two.

Check this out. Note that early models(1991-92 whale car) had fender skirts and these were taken off for the 1993 models. This is important when you buy trim parts newer than 1992.

The "Classic" model would have a more plush interior than the plain Caprice model.
Body-wise, it's the same car.
