What evidence is there to support this notion? All humans are born with distinct personalities, which determine how they will respond to parents/peers etc. Far from a blank slate.

Not born a blank slate, no. I've seen too much in a baby's eyes to believe that. Anyone who has spent time with babies would agree that
personalities are there from the start.

No i don't believe in Tabula Rasa. I like Jean Jacques Rousseau theory of Noble Savages-Naturally endowed with a sense of right and wrong with an innate plan for orderly, healthly growth. That make more sense with me. Children have a built-in moral sense of thinking and feeling that would only be harm by adult training.

No, we have many instinctual bahaviors. For example I belive we are inherently selfish. that is a survival instinct, learn and striving to be selfless is a spiritual excercise.

But I do not believe we are born godo or evil. that is a choice that is made.

no, humans like most mammals have instinct. also, once your hearing develops before you are born, you hear everything! im sure that has some effect on you before you are born! for instance, recognizing your mothers voice. i think its a combination of nature and nurture.

Wordsworth's "Intimations of Immortality". Suggests we are born with a cosmic total comprehensive that wanes as we mature: "fading clouds of glory". A nice kick.
