woulshou's thought that it hasn't been properly defined yet is excactly what i was thinking.

I've never in my life heard anyone refer to them as "mice" and I think the reason is that they don't get acknowleged in groups because people usually only have one and are a single accompniment to a computer.

--I've come to accumulate 3 mice in recent times and if i start to reffer to them as a group I stop in my tracks not knowing a term for them as a plural.
--If I say mouses, then it sound silly and incorrect and if i say mice, it sounds like i've got 3 pet mice.

i really think that has never been determined yet.

but since the computer device's name has its origin in its similarity to the wellknown rodent, i think it should also inherit it's grammatical properties...

so: one computer mouse, two computer mice.

anyone who is of different opinion will have to give a better reason

since it's considred a "mouse" it should be refered to the same as a real mouse. if you're talking about more than one mouse, the hand device, it should be refered to as rodent.
