I actually had 2 ultrasounds-the first at 10 weeks because I started spotting and we were terrified that something was wrong, so we had one to make sure (which, thank God, nothing was, because I'm 36 and a half weeks now with a healthy boy). At 10 weeks he only looked like a little bean with arm and leg buds and a big head, and he didn't move around noticably, even though the ultrasound tech assured me that he was fine and we heard a healthy heartbeat (it was actually the first time we got to hear his heartbeat!). The second ultrasound we had was at 19 weeks to find out the sex, and this one was MUCH more eventful!! We found out, very definitively (he's a little flasher) that he's a boy, and we got to see him moving all around, stretching, kicking, moving his little head all around-everything he'd be doing on the outside! I'd be wary of an ultrasound tech telling you the sex at 13 and a half weeks, because they've certainly been known to have been mistaken before. If you can afford it, I'd have another done after this one sometime after 19 or 20 weeks when your baby has developed some more.

The baby will definitely be moving around in there. I think it's still a bit early to see if it's a boy or girl, though. Probably closer to 20 weeks for that. You'll get to see and hear the heartbeat - that's absolutely amazing. and you'll get some peace of mind that things are going the way they're supposed to go. It's still a long way from when you can feel the baby's movements, but you'll know that he/she's growing and doing well.
Enjoy it!

I had my first (vaginal) ultrasound at 11 weeks. The only thing that I could see were two sacks and two babies....twins. We couldn't even see what sex they were. That was over 5 1/2 years ago though so I know they have better ultrasounds now. Anyway good luck. By the way the twins are 5 now. They're boys.

unfortunately no, you will not see the gender of the baby. You will find that out at approximately half way through your pregnancy when you have another ultrasound. What you should see is the babys heart, they usually check that all 4 chmbers are there, which is very cool to see! They will take measurements and give another indication of how far along you are, though they usually stick with the original figure even if the measurements indicate otherwise.
Have fun, good luck!

A ultra sound that early they wont give you an exact on what the sex is, cause it is too early most it is between 18-22 weeks that is the best. what are you getting it for? I would think the only thing they would be able to tell you is size, you will be able to see the heartbeat, and if there are any abnormalities in the baby.

My wife and I had our ultrasound last week, and yes you can see the "girl parts". You'll see three vertical lines on the screen if its a girl. Also they check for the chambers of the heart, if you can see all four clearly they told us that rules out 90% of heart defects. Also they do lots of measuring and tell you what the weight of the baby is. Hope that helps!

They will check the heart and you will see movement but you won't be able to tell what you are having until you are at least 16 weeks along. It's also easier to tell if you are having a boy then a girl. I have a son and I'm pregnant with my daughter now. And with Tristan it took them only a min. to tell me it was a boy with this one it took them 15 mins. to be positive it was a girl.
