Why are most British women obsessed with fake tans?

Have you ever looked around you on the Tube or in a bus? If they look orange it is fake. Why do they insist on being tanned, even in the middle of winter? I think it looks unnatural.

Hi i know what you mean, we call them clones as they all look the same most or the girls have blonde hair and bright orange skin. Im naturally pale skinned abd yes a bit of bronzer or gradual tanning cream. But its not only the fake sun tans it the sun beds as well. You can tell who goes on the sun beds and who doesnt. The thing is i think it doesnt look that good either. Instead of girls damaging there selves with uv rays. Why dont they condition there skin with body creams and lotions. People just follow the celebs and individuality has gone out of the window. There is a tanning salon on nearly every corner in my town.

So that bus or tube you sit on takes you all around the country eh? You seem to be judging by the small percentage of people that you have seen. Anyhow, If a woman wishes to use a fake tan (and there are many tans on the market that don't make people look orange) then why is it down to you or others to judge them if they wish to change the colour of their skin. Some people look better and feel better with colour on their skin. There is nothing worse then looking pasty as you feel pasty and you can give the colour of milk a run for it's money.

I've always wondered the same thing. I wouldn't say they're all obsessed with fake tan but rather that for some reason modern society's model of beauty is tanned and thin.

It's all a bit ridiculous actually seeing as most men have quite varying tastes and most do NOT find the Victoria Beckham-type woman the ideal type at all - in fact, in many cases, very very far from it.

Not just the women i'm afraid there are more and more orange looking guys walking around. Do they not see the difference in a natural TAN and one from a BULB or worse SPRAY GUN!
We all want to look healthy and feel good, with a little tan from the sun we all feel good, so people want that feeling as often as they can get it...they just need to wise up and save the money up for more holidays in the sun instead...mind you watch out for the skin cancer though!!!

Everywhere you look here it's orange, orange, orange! Everyone is orange, girls, blokes, next thing it'll be the kids. They'll want a spray tan for Christmas. The reason is coz we don't get to see the sun for all 52 weeks of the year. Victoria Beckham doesn't help, she is the woman most girls want to look like! G*d help us all.

I bet there must be some dodgy chemical in them fake tan creams, the fact that they can change the colour of your skin doesnt make alarm bells ring??

I hear that there are tablets that make you get a tan as well!!

well thats dumb... there obsessed coz where else are they gonnna get a tan in the u.k? where as if they go on the sunbed then they can show off a tan.... and look like any woman in the rest countries of europe in the middle of the summer and not look like an enlgish white woman form miles away

i`m lucky cause i`m a light tan colour naturally i think a lot of the orange looking ones are the spray tans because of U V rays causing cancer if i had to choose between orange skin and skin cancer it would be orange every time

Give me a natural woman any time, those fake tans do nothing for me, make me think the women are fake too, I can't understand how they think it's attractive it isn't
