For the purpose of this question, "Spanish American" means "a native or inhabitant of one of the countries of America in which Spanish is the national language" (Merriam-Webster definition; "America" = "the Americas"), not a U.S. citizen.

I don't think most Spanish Americans resent the US and that they prefer the US Liberals to win the elections. They generally do not even make a difference between Rep's and Lib's (for them it's still a two party system, with no other choices). There are however historical reasons if some have these kind of feelings: the invasions last century by the US in some Spanish American countries, the Monroe Doctrine, Somoza (Nicaragua), Pinochet (Chile), Videla (Argentina) and other dictators in many other countries which were openly supported by the US during the Cold War.

You should correctly use Latin American and not Spanish American, which is more accurately used for Americans of Spanish descent, who are a totally different group of people than those who are Mexican American or from other nations in the Americas.

I don't need a link defining a word, I need a link to back up your statistics...most mexican americans vote republican on account of their religious beliefs. Also the reason why Bush is having such a hard time with the immigration thing...he needs the votes!

Illegals can't vote. Bush is trying to get them amnesty. Proven fact.

Part of the "Hispanic" heritage is the lack of tradition of patriotism. The people you refer to are loyal to their race, first, as witnessed by Congressman Solomon Ortiz who would amnesty 20 million Mexican criminals into the US, and the Democratic Party. Once here the only problem is that they will have to compete with other "Hispanics" for Affirmative Action perks.

What are you worried about? They can't vote because they are not U.S. citizens! Oh, an for your information we don't like to be called "Spanish Americans!" I must say its quite insulting. I guess cause it reminds us what the Spaniards did to our people.
