Every new 'alternative' band either tries to sound like Dave Mathews or Radiohead (bless these two, for they are the Real McCoys).

Group:

Keane

Maroon 5

Coldplay (Bless them, they're the best of this new generation).

5 for fighting

Snow Patrol

Some new band from Singapore, who’s name I can’t remember. Velvet Morning or something.

Solo artists:

Jamie Cullum

John Mayer

I can't name too many because I don't like this kind of music. Does anybody know what you call this kind of music? I just happen to not be able to avoid them on TV etc. The other new kind of sound is the Killers sound or some other New Wave sound, all of whom owe great debt to Echo & the Bunnymen.

No, but go to www.pandora.com to create a Dave Matthews Band channel, and the web site will show you tons of other bands with a similar sound or style. It's a great site for learning about new/different artists based on ones you already admire.

Go to allmusic.com and look for The Dave Mathews Band. They will have a multitude of bands from across the world similar to them.

Bands that ripped off different bands sounds, and grew to change into properly conventional contained in the technique? Lol...that my chum will be one lengthy record! after I start up up with such an endeavour, i does no longer recognize the position/at the same time as to end. So i'd perfect no longer start up in any respect ;) BQ: no longer really, yet I have a tendency to respond to anyhow. must be a tad of OCD on my section.

I don't know of any. The writing and the music combined is original as far as I know, and I haven't heard anybody able to duplicate it. DMB rocks.
