I decorate October 1st. Takes too long to put it all up and take it all down to only be up for two weeks...I think it's fine to put it up now...everyone seems to be doing so.
Bottom line is it should be whatever suits your own schedule.

RE:
How early do you start decorating for Halloween?
I live in a huge apartment complex where kids go around trick-or-treating, so I want to decorate my balcony and front door with spider webs, orange and black lights, and other Halloween-y things.
My sister said October 1st is okay to start decorating, but I think that's still early. What do...

October 1st is great as long as your decorations can hold up for the whole month. Sometimes I will wait until the second week of October to do my decorating. You do it when you like, it's your call, there are not set protocols after the 1st!
Happy Halloween

My birthday is on October 9th and my rule has always been I can start decorating for Halloween the day after my birthday. Just like I start decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving.

October first is fine. We decorate for fall shortly before the Fall Equinox and then add the Halloween stuff October 1st. Around my town lots of people put up the spooky Halloween stuff even sooner.

One of my neighbors always puts their decorations up the day before Halloween and everything always looks so amazing and intricate...I think all of us in the neighborhood wished they would decorate a little earlier so that we could all admire their work! In my opinion, anytime after October 1st is just fine.
I have a neighbor that already put up their Christmas lights! I'm not kidding! I think, no...I know that is too early! :D

Well there's Christmas stuff already out at Walmart and Kmart... So you may be running late putting up Halloween decorations...
