Oh geesh--must be a slow news day. Amish Paridise comes crashing down and CNN wants to report that Hawaii is sinking. What's next? The sky is falling? But then again it is CNN... you can't expect much.

A few million or billion years. The Hawaiin Islands are volcanic islands - as the old ones disappear new ones will form because it is located at a place that fosters growth of undersea volcanoes due to the actions of the underlying tectonic plates. If it weren't for volcanoes, Hawaii wouldn't be there.
