Of course! The only problem with getting published at 13 is the unprobability of having finished something yet. But if you've writen something and edited it to as good as it can get, then you should be able to get published. Just remember that new authors -- no matter how good -- usually get turned down by the first few publishers. Learn as much as you can from these disapointments, and move on; don't get bogged down and decide that it must mean that you can't write.

It depends on how well written it is. You have to have good a plot that hasn't been used again, and again, but is truly original.
You haven't mentioned if this is a children's book, or if you are trying to write about an adult theme.
Best rule of thumb, is to write what you know about. You haven't lived long enough to write about life as an adult would see it. I applaud the fact that you want to write. When you get older you can also take courses in writing, which will help you
Your book would have to be quite extraordinary for a publisher to consider it
. I remember a french teenager, when I was a lot young who wrote a bestseller, but she was around 18yrs old, I believe. Give it some time. Let a teacher at school read it who teaches English, and has experience with English composition, and get her opinion first
If she says to give it a try, and see if you can get it published, she might know where you can submit your book.
Lots of luck honey! I hope you can. If you do, and I find out about it, I'll be one of the first in line to buy your book.

Universities have publishers for young authors who may not have already been published. I don't think being a student of that university is a requirement. Try contacting a university that is close to your home. I had a poem published when I was twelve. I entered a contest that was advertised in the back of a magazine. Try looking up the National Library of Poetry online. There may be links into other websites for books or short stories. There are a lot of contests like that and most of them have prizes of being published.

Yes they can... but it takes money. You have to hire an editor and then it takes a while to get everything in order. Then, after you have polished copies of your literary work, you would send copies to different publishers. They would then read them and decide if your book was good enough for them to publish. If it is, they will contact you about a contract, if not.. keep trying. But remember, always keep the original and never send a publisher something you want to get back, because even if they publish your book, you won't get it back. Also, sometimes it is a good idea to get a copyright or whatever before you send your copies out. Plagiarism is a real thing and you have to watch out carefully for it. And it doesn't matter what your age is, if the talent is there, someone will recognize it. Good Luck.

Thanks for asking this question, I read most of these answers and in some ways it helped me get a better perspective on things.
I myself am a teen writer, that's all I have been doing for the past year.
I am working on a non-fiction book right now, I am only capable of writing non-fictional books because I am smart in that category of genius.
People tell me my up coming book will be a bestseller, therefore I have the same hopes for you to do the same.

If you don't get published the first time, don't quit!
Every one always tells me to read my books over, it takes time.
You can't just write a book in one sitting, it takes effort.
Most of all it takes encouragement.
Most adults when they see a book written by a teenager they most likely will dismiss it as trash.
Only if you have a higher adult perceptive can you really be a best sellers with the adults.
Nevertheless there is tons of teens out there that would read any book as long as its interesting.
To enhance your writing and make it more interasting read everyday, it works wonders.
Best wishes,
P.s
Have fun.

The youngest published author in the United States at this moment was a fourteen year old boy who wrote a fantasy in the Thieves World genre. The book sold millions of copies and has hurtled this young boy into the ranks of highly sought after fantasy writers. So, I see no reason why you cannot do the same thing or better.

I think they absolutely can write and get published, but they have to fight against the current trends in communication. Capitalization is important, as is spelling out the entire word ("u" is a letter, not a word). You will need to work on your grammar and keep practicing getting those stories down on paper!

If you haven't read them yet, check out these books for help in your writing:

1) "On Writing Well" by William Zinsser-- This is an excellent reference for any kind of writing. It will make your emails, essays, stories, and other writing clearer. I recommend this to everyone who wants to improve their writing skills.

2) "Bird By Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life" by Anne Lamott-- This is slightly more geared towards fiction writing, but can be helpful when you are attacking ANY large project in your life. Definitely a must for creative writers, students, or people who are looking for an entertaining book on writing.

3) "Writing Down the Bones" by Natalie Goldberg. You didn't mention if you want to improve your writing for school, work, or if you are a creative writer. This definitely targets creative writing, and focuses on the practice of writing. I write a lot of poetry and am working on a novel, and this is incredibly motivational to me.

Don't worry about publishing yet. Keep writing and editing your stories. Have a parent or teacher read them and help you make them as great as possible. Once you are there, take a look at the book "Writer's Market" which is filled with places to submit your work to.

hey, i published a book of poetry at the age of 13. Now, i am writing another novel, and i am only fiftenn. If you do want to get published, i recommend self-publishing. I self-published my book through http://www.lulu.com/
they are completely free and very easy to use. You can then buy a global distribution, or ISBN, which will put your book on Barnes and noble, borders, amazon.... i really like lulu, i think they are great. They also offer a great customer service if you get stuck.
If you think they are too good to be true (which was my original opinion) you can view my book at http://www.lulu.com/dchooper
Hope this helps. Good luck with your writing.
For any more information about Lulu you can contact me at forensic_dreamer@hotmail.com (if you do contact me, put Lulu in the subject line, or i might report as spam)
Cheers, Deanna.

Good luck with you writting.

Yes, a 13 year old can get published. You will need to have an adult, preferably one of your parents to work you through the process because you are under the legal age of 18.

There are child actors, so why not make room for a child writer?

Good luck kid, and I really mean it.
