Well, depends what you want to include as a computer. The Abacus is as old as history. In 1`792 Charles Babbage was born in Devon UK, he devised the Analytical engine, a device that was a brass mechanical computing machine. This contraption of wheels and cocks was never made during his lifetime but recently a replica made of silicon has been produced.
Or if you want to limit computers to something more akin to your PC then they are all Universal Turing Machines and owe much to Alan Turing (born 1912 London) he built the Bombe during WW2 a machine to break enemy codes. Colossus, another British code breaking computer was developed in 1943. Shortly followed by the American ENIAC in 1945
1947 Bell labs develop the transistor
1952 EDVAC Electronic Discrete Variable Computer is developed by the Ordiance dept. The same year a British scientist is working on a solid state computer unsuccesfully.
1959 Texus instruments and Fairchild semiconductors succesfully launch intergrated circuits
1964 IBM introduce the 360
1968 Intel founded
1972: Intel introduces the 8008, the first 8-bit microprocessor.
1977 The Apple 2
1980 Gates works for IBM on 'Basic
1981 IBM launch first PC
1984 First Apple Macintosh

first computer was the abacus calculator. when things really started to imitate a computer was when they had programs & data on punch cards (rectangular piece of sheet metal with holes in it)
after that came the IBM 8086 first desktop machine which was followed by the mac+ (first computer mouse was used) then the radio shack tandy 1000, then basically just started to get faster processer wise for a few years with ibm 8088, 286, 386, 486, pentium1 etc.

Did it start with Alan Turing, and the Turing machine? Or was it Michelangelo and the designs he drew for simple computing machines? (both gay)
Or was it Mac and his big sister Lisa who started the American Revolution against Microsoft and the Dossies?
Well, it is a long and glorious history!

Long time ago, Adam wanted to keep track of how many apples Eve ate. He immediately recognized the need for a computing device. Since electricity wasn't invented yet, he used stones.

The first type of CPU's in computers were really slow and really big in contrast to the CPU's you'd find inside your computer today
